Merry Christmas to our Troops!☺
The Gifts of many here in Illinois for our Military
Men and Women were brought directly to the Soldiers of Fort Campbell, Kentucky! Through the outreach of Fort Campbell's
Installation Management Command, SSG Bradley Morrow [Community Relations] and MWR Directorate Amber Barr, the girls and
Leaders of Troop #70194 and #70369 connected directly with hundreds of Soldiers to say "Thank You"! Their outreach and
hard work representing all Girl Scouting has brought to each with outstanding character and caring above and beyond.
From their booth at the Units of single soldiers, delivery to the those of the Wounded Warriors Transition Unit, to those
recently and just returning from Afghanistan at the USO LT Dan Band Concert, to the FRG for Solidiers and Families relocating
to the base, smiles were brought and gratitude exchanged by each! It was two days which live in the hearts of many for
a lifetime!
MOMS extends our gratitude and deep appreciation to each for making the day for a Soldier
and their families; and to the Girl Scouts, Leaders and GCNWI Council for your mission, making a great and tangible difference
for our U.S. Armed Forces through the "Gift of Caring" Program.
In the written words of Colonel Perry C. Clark
of Fort Campbell:
"On behalf of the Soldiers and Families assigned to Fort Campbell,
I wish to extend our sincere appreciation for your generosity and heartfelt dedication to the Fort Campbell community.
It meant so much to our Soldiers to have both Operation MOMS Cookies and the Girl Scout Troops extend their sincere gratitude
and thanks to the Soldiers and Families of Fort Campbell.
The success of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs
would not be possible without the unwavering support of generous community members such as you. It is difficult for
Soldiers to focus on their future while faced with so many daunting tasks. It is individuals like you who continue to
support them throughout tough times, which really makes a difference.
...Your generous donation...gifts the Soldiers with not only
continued support but a morale boost as well. Your kindness is admirable and epitomizes the basic noble virtues of the
American Spirit: helping those who need help, without being asked.
Our Fort Campbell Soldiers and Families are truly grateful
to you as a friend and supporter. Air Assault!

Hello to you and anyone else who may reading this,
I am a Technical Sergeant in the Air
Force...currently deployed to Kandahar in Afghanistan. Today one of our Airmen,
Senior Airman Anthony
XXXXXXXX, received boxes from your organization. Obviously he did not want to take all of those by himself, so he offered
up to share the boxes with everyone in our section. As we opened up the boxes, my eyes got bigger and bigger. I have a huge
craving for Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies, one of my many vices, and there were
loads of them. You could see everyone reaching for something that they had also had cravings for. People were trading for
their favorites that someone else may have had in their boxes for something someone else had. We were all like kids on Christmas day. It might seem funny to people back home if they watched grown men
getting so excited about what many would consider to be “just a few snacks or goodies”. But you would be surprised
at the little things you miss. Obviously we miss our families and friends back home, but we also miss some of the little things
too. You must get a lot of feedback from people as to what should go in the boxes. Or, you must have people that have been
deployed before telling you what you should put in there, because you hit almost all of us with something we really enjoyed.
I myself ate a whole tube of the thin mints within about 3 minutes. I know, I need to go work that off now. Ha!
I really just wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you.
Thank you for what you do for people like ourselves. It is so nice to see people doing these kinds of things for the deployed
men and women of the U.S. Forces. It is people such as yourselves that make our jobs here feel so much more worthwhile. And,
I want you to know that there were about 30 of us here that were smiling and indulging on some of our favorite snacks from
home. It touched me and I really just wanted to convey some gratitude to you and your organization. Please tell your volunteers
there that they are very much appreciated.
Thank you so much on behalf of myself and the people I work
with!
Sincerely,
TSgt Matthew XXXXXXXXX

GIRL SCOUTS COOKIES FOR OUR TROOPS...
The Girl Scouts are indeed making the world a better place...bringing awareness for the Men and Women who
serve in the U.S. Armed Forces with their "Cookies For A Cause"! For more than 5
years, MOMS has carried Girl Scout Cookies, donated by thousands, to Service Members stationed and deployed overseas!
With the donation on February 25th by the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago & Northwest Indiana of more than 5,000 boxes,
Troop Collections and Drop Offs...MOMS shipments through June will carry more than 12,000 boxes collected to date of the
beloved Girl Scout Cookies to our Service Members! More to come!
The Girl Scouts also fill much-needed Volunteer slots in MOMS Center for assembly of our individual Care
Packs and their heartfelt cards and messages which are facilitated via MOMS to Service Members. Miriam Baker, Vice President
of Membership said "Girl Scouting is all about courage, character and confidence and the Cookies For A Cause Program aids
in these goals". They send their caring and respect for all who serve with their work of heart! Friendship
with community partners working hand-in-hand from our youth to our Troops!
